South Arkansas Center on Aging

The South Arkansas Center on Aging Health and Education Center is dedicated to improving the lives of older adults in south Arkansas. By providing health care and education, the center can be an integral part of a person’s successful journey through the aging years. This enhanced-care philosophy stresses wellness and health maintenance to support a person’s efforts to live as independently as possible.

The South Arkansas Center on Aging addresses the distinctive needs of seniors living in the seven-county south Arkansas region. To meet these needs, unique partnerships were formed to achieve the goals of improved health and education for older adults.

This center serves seven counties in South Arkansas: Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Columbia, Dallas, Ouachita, and Union.

South Arkansas Center on Aging Senior Health and Education Center South Arkansas Center on Aging covers Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Columbia, Dallas, Ouachita, and Union counties.

Center for Senior Education

The Education Center offers centralized access to resources; information on physical, emotional, and psychological health and wellness; a multifaceted approach to geriatric education for area health care professionals; individualized attention to health care and education; and community outreach groups and classes.

Allan S. Pirnique, MD, serves as the Director of the SACOA in addition to staffing the Senior Health Clinic.  The staff at the South Arkansas Center on Aging uses an interdisciplinary team of geriatric health care professionals. Team members include a social worker, advance practice nurse, nutritionist, geriatrician and internist. This team works together to provide high-quality geriatric-specific clinical care with a focus on health promotion and to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families in South Arkansas.
